AppViewX: ADC Orchestration

Gartner published its 2016 Magic Quadrant for Application Delivery Controllers report on August 29, 2016. According to Gartner analysts Andrew Lerner, Joe Skorupa, and Danilo Ciscato, “Application delivery controllers are a key component within enterprise and cloud data centers to improve application availability, performance and security. However, the market is in a state of flux, with a growing divergence between the needs of traditional I&O and application-centric personnel.*

Gartner predicts, “By the end of 2017, three of the top six ADC vendors will support third-party ADC software in their management suites, including open source, up from zero today.”*

Managing ADC infrastructure is extremely complex, and it gets even more difficult when large numbers of instances are required on a transient basis to meet business needs. Infrastructure and operational leaders have to manage complex environments for continuous application delivery. AppViewX automates tasks, orchestrates systems, enforces deployment standards, provides agility to the business, and reduces downtime. It helps in optimizing the total cost of ownership using simplified automation and orchestration capabilities.

Organizations are realizing cost savings by moving to multi-vendor network infrastructures, but managing network devices behind applications in geographically distributed data centers has made it difficult to gauge the needs of the network team. AppViewX Application Delivery Automation provides role-based management, automation, and orchestration of multi-vendor ADC environments that serve applications across data centers. It offers state of- the-art management capabilities that map to the needs of application owners, network engineers, and network operations. ADC+ simplifies migrations/upgrades and enables self-service capabilities to lines of business. AppViewX supplies prepackaged automation templates to deploy L2–L7 services. With plug-and-play integrations into various ITSM systems, AppViewX provides automation of routine changes and processes such as validations, standardizations, and deployments.

In the recent 2016 Magic Quadrant for Application Delivery Controllers report, AppViewX was cited as Other Players (ADC Orchestration). According to Gartner, “these vendors do not currently meet our inclusion criteria, but can address application delivery requirements in certain usage scenarios.”*
